La estatal Petróleos de Venezuela (Pdvsa) confirmó en un comunicado este martes que se desbordó crudo desde un área de almacenamiento de su refinería Amuay y llegó a una bahía adyacente a la unidad, al occidente del país.
Pdvsa informó en su reporte que había iniciado las labores para “la recolección del producto con material absorbente y camiones de vacío; así como la colocación de barreras que impiden el desplazamiento del crudo”.
El derrame de la fosa a cielo abierto se produjo tras dos días de fuertes lluvias y por la falta de mantenimiento, dijo tarde el lunes el representante de los trabajadores Iván Freites.
Freites dijo que el evento “hasta ahora es incuantificable, pero pueden ser unos 200.000 barriles de crudo. Hay buques atracados manchados”, agregó.
Pdvsa atribuyó el incidente a las constantes lluvias en la zona y no cuantificó el crudo que manchó la bahía.
